The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
