The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
