Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
