By no means! By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
