▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
