I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
