Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
