Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
