Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
