The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
