The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
