The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
