The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
