The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
