The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
