The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
