The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
