The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
