The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
