The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
