The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
