The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
