The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 then he mustered 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 you pay attention 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
