The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
