The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people together 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
