He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
