He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
