The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
