The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
