The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
