The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
