The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
