The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
