The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
