The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
