The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
