The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
