The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
