The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
