The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
