The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
