The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is no joke. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
