The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
