The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
