Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
