Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
