Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
