Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
