Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
