Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
